Topic: Diving the WW2 B-24 Liberator in Gander Lake, NFLD
Speaker: Tiara Boyes -Technical Diver and UW Photographer
Tiara Boyes is a technical diver and an artist who has worked as an UW photographer for the film industry. She has a masters degree in Marine and Coastal Resource MGT and over 18 years as a fisher off the west coast. With her passion for marine conservation and the fishing industry, she is an Ocean Ambassador with the Marine Stewardship Council which has the stated mission of ending overfishing and safeguarding sustainable seafood.
In September of 2022, Tiara joined a project funded by the Royal Canadian Geographic Society to locate and confirm the discovery of a WW2 B-24 Liberator bomber which crashed in Gander lake, NFLD in 1943 with the loss of 4 crew. Working with Jill Heinerth, explorer in residence with the society they located and dived the wreck in 50M of cold, dark water on the bottom of Gander Lake. Tiara will share her experience and their findings.
