Marine Phytoplankton
Join us for a presentation from Shea Wyatt, a marine biologist at the University of Victoria.  We will learn about the wide range of marine phytoplankton that live in our oceans and how our changing climate and pollution are impacting ocean eco systems and the ecology of the oceans tiniest but most critical life forms. Phytoplankton are the crux of ecosystems both aquatic and terrestrial, producing half of the Earth's oxygen, and cycling elements such as carbon, silicon and nitrogen throughout the ocean, all while providing a primary food source for marine animals.
